Job description

Brook Street Recruitment is working with our client in Belfast who are seeking to recruit a Sea Freight Operative to join their sea freight team, focusing on both import and export operations.

Duties

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing the shipment process from booking to final delivery.
  • Coordinate and monitor the end-to-end shipping process, including liaising with overseas agents and handling import clearance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of inbound and outbound customs declarations through Northern Ireland (NI) and Republic of Ireland (ROI) customs systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges, maintaining high service standards throughout.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

Criteria

  • Previous experience in a sea freight customer service role is preferred, but strong customer service experience in other freight modes (air/road) will also be considered.
  • Solid understanding of inbound and outbound customs processes.
  • A customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing exceptional service.
  • Strong attention to detail and a process-driven approach.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle operational issues efficiently.
