Role description

The role of the Publishing Ethics Analyst is to support large-scale investigations in the published content of scholarly journals. This role involves analysing potential ethical issues, ensuring research integrity, and assisting in maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics.

Responsibilities
  • Accurate assessment of activities by authors, reviewers, editors, guest editors and others
  • Assessing large-scale investigations including plagiarism, duplication, authorship disputes, peer review manipulation, and figure manipulation / duplication
  • Keeping investigations to schedule, and ensuring articles assigned are handled in a timely manner
  • Prioritising work based on team needs
  • Supporting the regular team reporting and tracking work progress
Skills
  • Degree in an academic discipline
  • Knowledge / experience of STM journal peer-review and the publishing process, and COPE best practices
  • Ability to work methodically, problem-solving and fact-checking
  • Strong analytical, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communications skills
