Science Technician - Secondary School | Barnet | ASAP Start

Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for an exciting new opportunity in a well-resourced and supportive secondary school?

Do you have a passion for science and the practical skills to support engaging, safe, and effective science lessons?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a highly regarded and inclusive secondary school in Barnet that is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join their science department as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term role, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, ideal for someone with laboratory experience and a commitment to supporting high-quality science education.

About the Role:

As a Science Technician, you will:

  • Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Support science teachers in delivering practical experiments and demonstrations safely and effectively.
  • Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and chemical stocks, ensuring safety and compliance with health and safety regulations (including COSHH).
  • Assist in the preparation of risk assessments for practical work.
  • Ensure all laboratories are clean, well-organised, and well-stocked.
  • Support students during practical sessions when required, under the guidance of teaching staff.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures, including knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Organised, reliable, and confident working independently as well as part of a team.
  • A science-related qualification (e.g. a degree in a science subject) is desirable.
  • Excellent time-management skills and attention to detail.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
