Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher in the life sciences to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality online lessons, engaging students in interactive learning, and ensuring academic excellence.

The Secondary Sciences Teacher in Biology & Chemistry will be responsible for teaching KS4-5 students in Biology for Year 12, and for Years 11-13 in Chemistry. This role also includes teaching 1:1 provision in Year 11 Chemistry in addition to the yeargroup classes.

The timetable is already set for the 2025/26 academic year, the successful candidate will be able to adhere to the pre-existing timetable as closely as possible, with little to minimal change. The primary teaching days are Monday, Thursday, and Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging online lessons that align with the UK curriculum.
  • Assign appropriate coursework and homework tasks to facilitate independent learning and study.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment.
  • Use digital tools effectively to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards.
  • A relevant degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Holding an enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Familiarity with British curriculum standards and assessment methods.
  • Proven experience teaching in an online or classroom setting.
  • Strong IT skills and experience using online learning platforms.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students in an online learning environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching international students.
  • Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs.
  • Familiarity with Pearson Edexcel qualification board.
  • Additional teaching qualifications or subject specialisms.
