A local government agency in the UK is seeking a School Crossing Patrol coordinator to manage safety outside schools. In this role, you will supervise and support a team of School Crossing Patrols, recruit new staff, and maintain relationships with schools. The position requires a full driving license, excellent communication skills, and effective problem-solving abilities. Salary: £10,241 to £10,746 per annum pro rata term time only (Full time equivalent £27,254 to £28,598 per annum)
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Term time only - 42 working weeks - 15 hours per week - this role will be required to work on a rolling rota
Location: Based at Hop Oast, Horsham but may require travel to any of the 3 main depots -Clapham, Drayton or Hop Oast (Horsham)
Start Date: Please note that this role will not commence before April 2026
The Transport Provision team is currently recruiting for a School Crossing Patrol coordinator. The team is spread across all three of our main depots in Chichester, Worthing and Horsham. This role will be based at Hop Oast depot and is responsible for managing sites outside and near schools to ensure safe crossing points for children and adults attending the school site. Your role will be to support the delivery of this by supervising, recruiting and supporting a team of School Crossing Patrol colleagues.

In this role you will work across a large geographical area and ensure that all School Crossing Patrols (SCPs) in your assigned area, are supported in their role. You will be leading on the recruitment of new staff, ensuring they receive an induction, uniform and any ongoing training they require once established in post.
You will need to build and maintain relationships with schools and other key stakeholders. Should there be any incidents or issues at one of the School Crossing Patrol sites, you will need to deal with this in a professional manner and manage responses to deal with this accordingly.
The role could require regular travel around the county so some flexibility will be required. You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.

The Transport Provision Team is part of the Transport Co-ordination Department. The team plans and provides passenger transport solutions. These services are provided to eligible children and allows them to get to school which supports the bus network providing millions of bus journeys each year.
The Transport Provision Team provides specialist transport for people with special needs, using its own fleet of vehicles, many of which are fully accessible. The Transport Provision Team covers the whole of West Sussex and operates out of three bases in Chichester, Horsham and Worthing.
