School Caretaker - Secondary School Harrow ASAP Start

Are you an experienced Caretaker or Site Assistant looking for a new opportunity in a welcoming and supportive secondary school?

Do you take pride in maintaining safe, clean, and well-presented school premises?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a highly regarded secondary school in Harrow that is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their site team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term position, working Monday to Friday, ideal for someone with previous experience in facilities or premises management within a school or similar environment.

This will involve a shift working pattern where you work either: 6am to 2pm, 8am to 4pm or 12pm to 6pm.

About the Role

As a School Caretaker, your duties will include:

• Ensuring the school site is clean, safe, and secure at all times.
• Carrying out minor repairs and basic maintenance (DIY tasks such as changing bulbs, fixing doors, unblocking drains, etc.).
• Opening and closing the school premises each day, including responsibility for alarm systems and site security.
• Supporting with setting up rooms for school events, exams, and meetings.
• Monitoring stock levels and ordering cleaning and maintenance supplies when needed.
• Liaising with external contractors and reporting any significant site issues to the Site Manager or Business Manager.
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times, including compliance with fire safety and risk assessments.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, or Facilities Assistant, ideally in a school or similar setting.
• Good basic maintenance and DIY skills.
• A solid understanding of health and safety procedures and site security.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with a proactive attitude.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
