Job summary

A school service provider is seeking a Temporary Caretaker for a 6-month period to maintain school buildings and supervise cleaning staff. The role requires knowledge of building regulations, practical maintenance skills, and the ability to manage cleaning operations. The position is 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, offering £13.50 per hour. A current DBS certificate is preferred, although one will be arranged upon employment.

Qualifications

Job description

A position has become available for a Temporary Caretaker for a client at one of our schools for a period of 6 months.

Job roles of the caretaker are as follows:
  • Maintain the buildings and amenities of the school, effecting all necessary repairs and improvements.
  • Monitor all works related to grounds maintenance; ensuring that specified standards are achieved and that contract compliance is obtained.
  • Organise and supervise the work of the cleaning staff on the school site, including arranging work schedules, monitoring cleaning duties, ordering supplies of cleaning materials and other caretaking materials, opening and closing of the site, water testing and fire alarm testing.
Requirements

The desired applicant will have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of building, fire & H & S regulations.
  • Practical maintenance ability and some knowledge of plumbing and electrics.
  • Technical knowledge.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Administration and financial systems.
  • Contract and tendering process.
  • Operation of cleaning equipment, power and hand tools.
  • Site services and their location and isolation points.
  • Breakdowns, faults and repairs – identification and calling out of appropriate contractor.

This is a Temporary Position covering a long term sick absence.

  • 37.5hrs a week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Term Tine only
  • 12pm till 8pm
  • £13.50ph

A current DBS certificate is preferred upon application but one will also be completed.
