Job summary

A leading logistics company based in Bradford is seeking a Sales Assistant to enhance customer relations and generate new business. The ideal candidate should possess O level education (Maths and English preferred), with good communication and relationship-building skills. Experience in CRM systems and a full driving license are desirable. This role offers flexibility, with a chance for career advancement after a 6-month probationary period and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily with existing and potential new customers via e-mail and telephone.
  • Build relationships with customers.
  • Maintain and update the CRM database.
  • Generate sales leads and new business proactively.
  • Quote and deal with enquiries daily.
  • Respond to enquiries and requests reactively.

Collett & Sons have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Assistant to join our team in Bradford.

Location: Bradford, BD12 0QY

Salary: Salary dependent upon experience

Job Type: Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 08.00hrs to 17.00hrs, Flexibility required

The 4 Divisions are integrated between each other which allow a One stop shop service.

  • Transport - Undertaking General transport, Freight Forwarding and Warehousing
  • Heavy Lift - Heavy transport, Crane Hire, Lifting & Skidding and Project management
  • Marine - Vessel Chartering operations, Stevedoring, Port and Ships Agency services
  • Consulting - Undertaking Route surveying, site access studies & reporting

The Company specialises in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Heavy Engineering, Renewables and Civil & Infrastructure markets, transporting and moving difficult loads UK & Worldwide.

They operate from their 5‑acre site in Halifax, 10‑acre site in Goole and 3‑acre site in Grangemouth.

Sales Assistant – The Role

Initially you will be under the guidance of the Sales Director (your direct line manager), as you proactively learn and become confident in your role, the expectation is that you will have the ability to work autonomously.

The role is subject to a 6 months probationary period after which CPD will be provided to the successful candidate.

They will enjoy a varied work load and will be given every opportunity to help grow and develop, in return contributing to the Company’s development and growth, with the prospect for promotion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily communication with existing and potential new customers, via both e‑mail and telephone
  • Relationship building
  • Maintaining, updating and expanding the CRM database
  • Proactively generating sales leads and new business
  • Quoting and dealing with enquiries on a daily basis
  • Reactive to enquiries and requests
You
  • Minimum education to O level standard (Maths and English essential), but A Level or equivalent preferred
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience in a similar role, preferred
  • The ability to identify relevant sales leads relevant to the company’s services
  • Customer focused
  • Experience in a transport / logistics environment preferred but not essential
  • Experience of CRM, or similar systems an advantage
  • Commercially astute and has the ability to work on a personal level with the client base
