Job description

A great opportunity for you to join our GP practice basedin Tower Hamlets East London. We are a friendly innovative practice consistingof 4 Partners with a team of doctors, pharmacist, nurse practitioner, Firstcontact physiotherapist, practice nurse and health care assistants with fullsupport from reception, administrative and management staff. List size 14,000 +and growing, GMS, Emis Web.

We are part of an enthusiastic PCN, working together withlocal practices to achieve better clinical care. Focused on team working,training and continuously developing our staff.

  • Six weeks annual leave

  • Minimal clinical admin as pharmacists deal withprescriptions and admin and coders deal with most clinical documents

Main duties of the job

We utilise a total triage model, so the right patientsare seen by the right clinician at the right time.

  • Low general admin including referrals,correspondence, lab results, and document processing.
  • One duty doctor session per week dealing with onthe day appointments, queries and emergencies.
  • Attendance at practice meetings and training asand when appropriate
  • Insurance reports and other non-GMS work forpatients as required

Job responsibilities

a. Delivery of highly effective medical care to theentitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMScontract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and nationalguidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner,including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associatedadministrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage andduty doctor roles, working until 6.30pm

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction withgood practice

h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share ofthe practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinicalguidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation ofcontinuous improvement and quality initiatives

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area(or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings

m. Contribute effectively to the development andmaintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financialmanagement and HR

n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

o. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos ofcontinuing professional development across the practice team

p. Support the training of medical students

q. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aimsof the practice

r. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies

s. Collaborative working, promoting a culture ofcontinuous improvement

Person Specification
Experience
  • Willing to successfully complete appropriate training for appraisal and remain up to date with the developing GP Appraisal, relicensing and revalidation agenda.
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential environment
  • Willingness to undertake continuing professional development
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, face to face and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Sensitive to patient issues.
