The Gables Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join our friendly and forward thinking GP practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual offering 4-6 sessions per week, on a 12-month fixed-term contract, pattern to be negotiated. We are an established GP practicein Bedlington, Northumberland, 13 miles north of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified GP's.
In accordance with the practice timetable, asagreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a varietyof duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations andqueries, visiting patients at home, repeat prescriptionsand dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.In general, the post-holder will be expected toundertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GPworking within primary care.

ClinicalResponsibilities:
Inaccordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehim/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, visiting patientsat home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperworkand correspondence, in a timely fashion.
Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation.
Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems.
Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Inconsultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease managementprotocols, developing care plans for health.
Toassist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronicmedical conditions e.g. asthma, COPD
Completionof clinically related administrativeand non clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
Providingcounselling and health education.
Referpatients for further opinions and interventions according to practice protocols.
Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribingin accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate.
Participatein training plans of GP registrar and medical students as required.
Ingeneral the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Maintaining,Monitoring & Updating Computer Database and Management of Medical Records& Practice Audits
Practice Organisation
Processand action incoming patient and hospital correspondence
Attendanceat primary health care team meetings, significant event audit meetings, annualcomplaint, audit meeting and others as deemed necessary
Initiateand participate in the formulation and implementation of new protocols,policies and procedures to aid and improve administrativeorganisation and the provision of services to patients
Ensurethat the Practice complaints system is adhered to at all times
Awarenessof and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g.prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
Completionof Information Governance on line training annually and provide certificate
Maintaincurrent CPR and anaphylaxis certification, child & adult safeguardingtraining and any other mandatory training as required.

Participatein an annual performance review under agreed headings
Engagein appropriate educational activity to maintain clinical competence andperformance
Attendanceand participation in educational meetings in the Practice and externally
Supportcolleagues in their professional development

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, orallow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and othermatters. They do so in confidence andhave the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and actappropriately
In the performance of the duties outlined in this JobDescription, the post-holder may have access to confidential informationrelating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcareworkers. They may also have access toinformation relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All suchinformation from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, otherhealthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged toauthorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and proceduresrelating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

Providing information regarding immune consent with particularregard to Hepatitis B status

Using appropriate infection control procedures particularlythose relating to needlestick injuries, maintaining work areas in a tidy andsafe way and free from hazards
Ensuring that all accidents or dangerous incidents are reportedand investigated, and follow up action taken where necessary.

Clinical Workload
Eachsession will involve face to face consultations, telephone consultations, andassociated paper work as specified in Clinical Responsibilities. Home visits will also be required.
Oncall duty session may also be required Currently 8:30am until 6:30pm Monday to Friday. We also do Enhanced Access hours, between 7am to 8pm on a Tuesdayand occasional Saturday sessions
