Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Coordinator

Malton

Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:00

Salary up to £37,000

Pro-Pak Foods is a major supplier of delicious ready meals to many of the UK’s leading supermarkets and convenience stores. Our company, based in Malton, North Yorkshire, has built an excellent reputation over the last 25 years. Today, our chefs, working in partnership with our customers, have created a menu of more than 200 quality meals.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting our Head of SHE in day-to-day duties by communicating with the directors, senior managers and staff over their obligations under the Health and Safety Act, and their responsibilities within this legislation.

You will positively promote best practice in health, safety and environment for the benefit of all employees, contractors and visitors at Pro-Pak.

We are looking for someone with a positive work attitude who has sound IT literacy skills.

You will also need good written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop and implement health and safety performance related systems and procedures.

Experience in conducting risk assessments and knowledge of MAC, ART and RAPP is key.

Ideally you will already be experienced in a health and safety role with working knowledge of UK safety, health and environmental law, with a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.

To give you an idea of what this role entails, here are some of the duties covered by our SHE Coordinator:

  • Promote awareness of suitable and relevant health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Support the company in maintaining a low-risk, safe working environment.

  • Ensure that the company provides safe plant and machinery and safe movement, storage and use of articles and substances.

  • Conduct (and review) suitable and sufficient risk assessments and lead implementation of the control measures identified by these assessments.

  • Manage and review emergency procedures, first aid facilities, safety signs, relevant PPE and equipment.

  • Monitor health and safety practices and systems and report on any gaps.

  • Complete weekly departmental checks and monthly site audits.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other safety, health and environment related events.

  • Consult and communicate any health and safety related matters with employees.

  • Support the delivery of health, safety and environmental initiatives on site.
