Job description

Job Summary

This role is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract or secondment for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist in a neuro team at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The position is eligible for UK Visas & Immigration Skilled Worker sponsorship where applicants meet the required skill and salary thresholds and role‑specific criteria.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions using an evidence‑based, flexible and patient‑centred approach.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the complex health and social care needs of people referred to our services.
  • Supervise and provide leadership for junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with the team leader.
  • Offer supervision and training for students on practice placement.
  • Participate in planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.
  • Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to ensure delivery of an excellent OT service across all pathways.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of recent and relevant Continuing Professional Development.
  • Experience of assessment, formulation of treatment plans and provision of neurological interventions for acute OT in specialist neuro settings.
  • Experience of working with patients with complex physical, psychological, emotional, sensory and social needs.
  • Knowledge of standardised and non‑standardised assessment forms and effective communication with patients, families and carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise caseloads, manage time, supervise and coordinate complex discharges.
Desirable
  • Clinical audit experience and outcome measurement skills.
  • Presentation and training skills; practice educators’ course.
