Overview
Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as an Occupational Therapist in our Band 5 rotation. Whether you prefer hospital or community, you’ll gain exposure across North Manchester General, stroke, community neuro and intermediate care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and review occupational therapy care plans against outcome measures, adjusting plans to facilitate goal achievement.
- Maintain accurate records of assessment and treatment in line with the Royal College of Occupational Therapy national standards and local policy.
- Examine and assess patients, identifying problems and needs, ensuring that medical, psychological, social, environmental and cultural factors are taken into account.
- Adapt working to different specialties and environments, maintaining a calm and professional approach, including participation in the weekend rota.
- Build rapport, demonstrate compassion toward patients and carers, and provide effective advice during difficult circumstances.
- Plan and deliver realistic programmes of treatment using evidence-based practice, utilising examination and assessment findings to inform interventions.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team alongside physiotherapists, speech & language therapists and rehabilitation assistants, providing expert advice to optimise patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Recognised degree in occupational therapy or equivalent and registration with the Health & Care Professionals Council.
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and the ability to build rapport.
- Analytical thinking and concentration, with experience in evidence-based practice.
- Ability to adapt to varied clinical settings and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
