Road Safety Tutors (Casual Posts) - Ref: EE10725

Salary G4: £13.68 per hour

Casual contract

Walsall Council’s Road Safety Team is looking to increase its pool of Road Safety Tutors to work on a casual basis.

As a Road Safety Tutor you will be expected to deliver cyclist (Bikeability) and pedestrian training programmes at various schools and sites across the Borough, to the National Standard. You must either be a 1 st 4sport Bikeability Cycle Instructor or willing to work towards this qualification (training will be provided).

It is essential that you are a regular cyclist, have general road safety knowledge and previous experience of working with school staff and younger children.

You may be required to support the work of the Road Safety Team with other initiatives. As a Road Safety Tutor, you are responsible for organising your own work, and for completing course related documentation.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.

Road Safety Tutors are responsible for liaising with schools to arrange and deliver class talks and outdoor pedestrian training to school age children. The successful candidates should have the ability to travel around the borough.

The ideal candidate will need to:
  • Be a first rate communicator, able to work in the community with children, parents, teachers and head teachers.
  • Be self‑reliant, well organised, energetic and enthusiastic
