Can you spin plates whilst winning over hearts and minds? If so, this role could be perfect for you. We need an AWEsome Responsible Business Assistant to join our team at AWE. This is a 12 month FTC to cover maternity leave.

Location: Hybrid and flexible working, with our offices based in Berkshire between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury with onsite parking and public transport services.

Salary: Starting at £35,120 this is very much open to negotiation.

What’s exciting about this role is that you will be part of the business at a time when we will be embarking on one of the most complex infrastructure programmes in the country at a pivotal moment in its evolution.

Your role is vital in working with the local community to engage and engender support and great relationships through giving back to the community and supporting recruitment.

A typical day for a Responsible Business Specialist could look like this:
Key Accountabilities:
  • Leading and coordinating STEM education engagement in schools.
  • Support our Environment Social Governance agenda and brand reputation by representing AWE at careers fairs, collaborating with Corporate Affairs and HR colleagues.
  • Drive social value (the positive value a business creates for the economy, communities, and society).
  • Accountable for the management of suppliers and contractors for events, including briefings, budget monitoring, invoicing and logistics. Can be shown how this is done by AWE.
  • Coordinating our volunteering programme and drive engagement through appropriate activities and communications.
  • Accountable for the timely response to internal and external community and schools’ enquiries, engaging with key stakeholders to coordinate responses.
  • Developing feedback mechanisms to evaluate events, analyse data and bring insight and recommended improvements for future events.
  • Contributes to the Communications team agenda by supporting campaign programmes, as appropriate.
  • Drive good governance by working with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate team budgets, board papers and other ESG accountabilities.
  • ESG and community engagement subject matter expert for AWE.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work to develop an agreed approach to deliver STEM education in schools.
  • Leads on the project management of events to promote ESG activities both internally and externally, including STEM education.
  • Working with the Communications team, create, develop and maintain the production and delivery of communications materials for internal and external publication to sustain a positive media presence which enhances AWE's technical and professional reputation to support ESG objectives.
  • Work to maintain systems and processes to enable the STEM schools' engagement programme and the Local Liaison Committee to be delivered effectively. Including but not limited to: organising content for the Local Liaison Committee meetings; management of delivery of externally hosted and virtual events; builds awareness across AWE of the role that the Community and ESG programmes play and the associated processes that must be followed.
  • Working with wider Corporate Affairs to de-conflict activities, identify and act collaboratively, share best practice and support one another in an integrated way.
We would like you to demonstrate or have experience of:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A natural at building relationships, winning confidence and trust of internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of working on own initiative as well as operating as part of a team
  • Confident and proficient in core Microsoft Office products
  • Well organised with great prioritisation skills
  • Comfortable juggling conflicting deadlines

A driving licence is essential as you will be attending events frequently to represent AWE.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
