Overview

LNWH is seeking a highly motivated B6 rotational Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the delivery of high-quality respiratory physiotherapy services, contributing to the health and well-being of our patients. As a B6 Respiratory Physiotherapist, you will work in a challenging yet rewarding clinical environment with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Rotations

Your role is multifaceted and integral to the patient care journey. The successful candidate will undergo nine-monthly rotations across the following areas:

  • ITU and Surgical Respiratory Wards
  • Medical HDU, Medical Respiratory Wards
  • Paediatrics/Medical
  • Vascular, Amputee & General Surgery wards, including Amputee outpatients
  • Regional Hyperacute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU)
  • Complex Colorectal surgery including prehabilitation – at Central Middlesex Hospital
Responsibilities
  • Assess, treat, and rehabilitate patients with various respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, trauma, critical care, and post-operative thoracic surgery patients.
  • Provide a seven-day therapy service for the Trust, including weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis, and participate in acute respiratory out-of-hours service (on-call) for adults and children with complex respiratory conditions.
  • Develop expertise across multiple acute clinical areas (acute medicine, cardiothoracics, intensive care, outpatient clinics, surgery, vascular) and contribute to service development. Note: rotations may be added or removed according to service need.
Main Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced respiratory assessments across various clinical areas; formulate treatment plans and set goals for a diverse patient group.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to ensure seamless care and safe discharge from hyper-acute care to home settings.
  • Contribute to training and development for the therapy team, MDT members, students, and patients/carers.
  • Develop professional leadership and management skills through on-the-job learning, supervision, and in-service training.

Your Site Context

Northwick Park Hospital is a major acute general hospital, with a Regional ENT and Maxillofacial unit, a Vascular Hub for the North West London area. St Mark’s Hospital is a national and international specialist centre for bowel and intestinal disorders. Central Middlesex is home to the Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit, elective GI surgeries, and a hub for elective orthopaedic surgery (covered by our MSK and Orthopaedic teams). Ealing Hospital is a busy district general hospital serving London’s third largest borough; you will encounter a wide range of patients with diverse conditions. Patients are often repatriated from major trauma centres following acute neurological and spinal cord injuries as well as progressive neurological disorders.
