Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the respiratory infections team.

The Respiratory Infections Team was set up to reduce length of stay and improve care for patients with CAP through a combination of early intervention in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), short stay wards and other areas within the hospital if required, providing early supported discharge and support for patients to prevent readmissions. They also arrange for follow up of these patients.

It is a nurse led team comprising of a Lead Nurse, Specialist Nurses and a healthcare assistant with clinical support and direction from a Consultant Respiratory Physician.

You will be working alongside the team to ensure CAP patients are receiving high level care set out by BTS/trust guidelines.

The post is permanent. It is for 15 hours, 8-4 Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of patients
  • Review and give education to CAP patients on a number of wards throughout the hospital
  • Ensure microbiological tests are sent to the lab
  • Promote antibiotic stewardship by promoting CAP guidelines
  • Arrange follow up for patients
  • Working within different settings in the hospital eg outpatients, resp wards, MAU, ED, MSDEC
  • Working with patients with a range of patients with respiratory infections eg, COVID, Flu, PCP, TB.
