Overview

Building Surveyor – Residential – closing date 01.02.2026

Salary from £40,914 to £44,094 pa depending on skills and experience

Permanent – Full time – 37 hour per week

Location: Ashford, Kent

Ashford Borough Council is seeking a proactive and technically proficient Residential Building Surveyor to join our Planned Maintenance Team.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting detailed inspections of ABC housing stock and provide expert analysis of building defects and risks.
  • Preparing specifications, tender documents, and managing procurement processes for planned maintenance projects.
  • Administering contracts, issue instructions, managing budgets, and overseeing remedial works during defect periods.
  • Submitting Planning and Building Control applications.
  • Managing a variety of building works including disabled adaptations and damage-related repairs.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, ensuring quality, value for money, and customer satisfaction.
  • Promoting tenant engagement and contributing to continuous service improvement.
Qualifications and experience
  • HNC/HND in Building Studies or significant relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Proven project management and contract administration skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and confident in dealing with contractors, tenants, and agencies.
Requirements

As part of this role you will need to be able to access all areas of residential properties throughout the borough of Ashford, so a full UK Driving Licence is required.
