Job summary

Resident Doctor - LAS ST Trainee (ST4-6)

2.1. This is a 6-month Specialist Trainee (ST LAS) post in General Adult Psychiatry (ST4-6) from 4th Feb'26 - 4th Aug'26, based at:o Northwest Camden Core Team - psychosis pathway 3 Daleham Gardens, London NW3 5BYo Complex Depression and Anxiety Team (CDAT) / South Camden Core Team - team base South Core Team Margarete Centre, 108 Hampstead Rd, London NW1 2LS

Main duties of the job

You will assess patients and formulate management plans. You will conduct out-patient clinics each week. You will also do joint assessments with team members, assess and review patients at their homes, and visit patients in supported accommodation. You will attend the team meeting. You will discuss your assessment and management plan at the team meeting. Outside these meetings you can either phone or personally speak to the Consultants or other team members if you have questions or concerns about patients.You will write letters to GPs after each patient contact or change in management plan to keep them informed.You will familiarize yourself with the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and work within this legislation. You will adhere to Trust Policies.You will maintain accurate, legible, contemporaneous and useful clinical records for all patients in whose care you are involved in.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification AND MRCPsych examination; OR a specialist qualification in psychiatry from an EU country that complies with the requirements of EU directive 2005/36/EC
Fitness To Practice
  • Fit to practice safely
  • oAbility to provide complete employment history with no unexplained career gaps. AND oEvidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances. AND oAt least 36 months' training or experience in psychiatry (not including foundation modules) by the post start date; OR o36 months' training in psychiatry in an EU country, supported by evidence of compliance with the requirements of 2005/36/EC Directive issued by a competent authority in that EU member state
Clinical Skills
  • Appropriate knowledge base and capacity to apply sound clinical judgement
  • Capacity to prioritize clinical need.
  • Ability in basic skills of history taking examination (mental & physical) & synthesis of findings
  • Basic psychotherapeutic skills
Academic / Research Skills
  • Understanding of the principles of audit, research & clinical risk management
  • Evidence of active participation in audit
