A local government authority in the United Kingdom is seeking a part-time Resettlement Officer to support the Homes for Ukraine scheme. The role involves engaging with hosts and refugees, providing community support, and managing financial reporting. Candidates must be excellent communicators in English and either Ukrainian or Russian, with strong partnership skills. The position offers flexible remote working with office attendance required for various tasks, including outreach across the Maldon District.
Vacancy type: Temporary part time. Salary: £33,081.48 – £35,916.42. Closing date: 07/12/2025
This role provides remote and flexible working. Office attendance is required for 2 or more days a week, subject to business need (including attendance at evening meetings where required).
The Homes for Ukraine scheme is a UK government programme launched in March 2022 that allows British residents (sponsors) to host Ukrainian nationals and their immediate family members fleeing the war, providing them with a safe place to live for at least six months, enabling them to work, study, and access public funds in the UK. Residents of the Maldon District have been generous in their response and there are currently 50+ hosts / Ukrainian families under the scheme.
The resettlement role sits within the housing options team at Maldon District Council providing support to over 50 hosts and guests with a focus on preventing homelessness, improving access to health, education, training and financial inclusion. You will be working directly in the community, at various locations across the Maldon District area and will be responsible for engaging with hosts, refugees and a range of partners. Promoting services which build community engagement supporting Ukrainian refugees to settle in our communities.
The successful candidate will work from the MDC Offices two days per week with additional days working outreach and partnership across the district and neighbouring districts on all other days.
You will be responsible for the Homes for Ukraine scheme’s financial reporting and data management; therefore sound Microsoft to IT skills and confidence in learning new systems is essential.
This is a part time role, 25 hours per week. Hours to be agreed with the successful candidate.
An excellent communicator in both English and Ukrainian or Russian with strong partnership working skills which will be used to support the Ukrainian community. You will need to be empathetic and have a broad understanding of trauma that refugees may have experienced. A knowledge of third sector organisations, local charities, voluntary groups and of local property markets will help you deliver holistic support. Sound Microsoft skills and confidence in learning new IT packages is essential.
