Researcher – Mid Sussex District Council

Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex

Salary: £35,412 - £39,862 pa

About the Role :

Mid Sussex District Council is seeking an enthusiastic, driven and experienced researcher to join our Policy Performance and Insights team. This role suits candidates who can interpret and communicate complex data analysis with an acute attention to detail. We also require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work quickly and flexibly as part of a small, close‑knit team. We are looking for a researcher who has a comprehensive understanding of research and policy development within the public sector, particularly in Local Government.

You will be responsible for designing and developing comprehensive insights reports, conducting methodically sound research and assisting in the analysis and interpretation of data to support the organisation’s goals and objectives. Your key responsibilities include:

• Research and report writing
• Data analysis and insights generation
• Production of key insights for the Council informing policy development and decision‑making processes
• Collaboration with key stakeholders
• Researching and understanding policy changes
• Horizon scanning
• Communication of research analysis and insights to varying audiences
• Develop and maintain datasets and information systems
• Support to Head of Policy Performance and Insights projects and meetings on an ad‑hoc basis

About You :

• Previous relevant experience in a similar role
