Overview

Applications are invited for a short-term Research Associate position in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Cambridge, UK. The successful applicant will work to support the research activities in the laboratory of Professor Ben Luisi, to study transmembrane transport mechanisms in bacteria.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a project to capture and structurally characterise transmembrane transport systems in Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Support research activities in the Luisi laboratory focusing on transmembrane transport mechanisms in bacteria.
  • Be involved in teaching and training students from undergraduate to postgraduate level as part of an interactive group.
  • Collaborate effectively within a highly interactive team and communicate scientific work clearly.
Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology (essential) and previous research experience.
  • Experience in basic microbiology.
  • Experience with protein purification and structural studies using X-ray crystallography or electron microscopy.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
