Project context

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) research assistant for the "Emotional and Language recovery after Aphasia (ELLA)" project. The study investigates a new therapy for people living with aphasia that targets language recovery, confidence and emotional wellbeing, integrating Solution Focused Brief Therapy and elaborated semantic feature analysis. The project is exploring delivery of the therapy within NHS settings.

Role and responsibilities
  • Work with people with aphasia, their significant others, SLTs, students and therapy assistants.
  • Support people with aphasia through the consent process.
  • Complete outcome measures with participants with aphasia.
  • Interview participants with aphasia, family members, NHS SLTs and student SLTs about their experiences.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience of working with people living with aphasia and their families.
  • Experience of communicating effectively and sensitively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience and understanding of managing research information and research processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
