Hours are offered on an as and when required basis

£15.81 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

The All Age Learning Disability Short Breaks and Supported Accommodation is based in Kirkwall and offers support to adults with learning disabilities who live in their own homes and with families/carers in the community.

Responsibilities
  • You will adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation and Short Breaks.
  • You will provide support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence, including support to help them access community facilities.
  • You will work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • You should have experience of working with people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.
  • You should hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or another relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC or be willing to achieve this qualification within 3 years of commencement of employment.
  • You must gain registration with the SSSC within 3 months of appointment.
  • You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
  • This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with protected adults.
Other requirements
  • Day and Night shifts will be available.
