Overview

Do you have an interest in Care of the Older person? An interest in Frailty and Dementia care? Mulberry and Rosewood ward are looking for Band 5 Nurses to join their teams, the post is open to both newly qualified nurses and nurses who have experience and skills to bring to our teams. There will be opportunities for the post holder to work closely with the MDT and specialist teams to provide holistic care to our patients and their support groups. We are looking for highly motivated, dedicated individuals wishing to progress in their career by joining this established and hardworking team. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate good organisational skills, motivate and support the nursing team and nursing students.

You will be supported in caring for patients who are acutely unwell, as well as patients with long term health conditions within the acute setting. You will be supported to develop your leadership and managerial skills by the Ward Manager and Senior colleagues. We have a Clinical Education team who provide a comprehensive training package for our nurses, including external training and a preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses.

Working days and or shift patterns will be agreed by the line manager to meet the needs of the service, we are happy to discuss flexible working opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • The assessment, implementation and evaluation of the agreed standard of nursing care.
  • Provide fundamental and advanced patient care.
  • Ensure that all nursing records and documents are completed accurately, legibly and contemporaneously.
  • Ensure safe discharges.
  • Discharge patients following the "nurse-led discharge protocol"
  • Assist the Ward Manager to ensure all staff is aware of prevention and control of infection.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and protect their privacy and dignity.
  • Ensure agreed standard for ward cleanliness by assisting with regular checks and audits.
  • Work at an appropriate clinical level and be a role model for all staff.
  • Manage the clinical area in the absence of more senior staff to ensure effective communication between all MDT members to ensure safe management of patients.
