Overview

We are looking for a Practice Educator & Advisor who has a passion for providing a high standard of training to enable support workers to take the children and young people to school and out on adventures in the community. We have a dedicated and experienced team who pride themselves on providing a high level of care to the young people they support. The team members are passionate about developing the young people through independence and a wide variety of activities. It is desirable that you will have experience with nasal pharyngeal airways and long-term ventilation or be willing to undertake training. The Role
  • You will have a Minimum of 2 years experienced and be confident in children's complex health, including respiratory management, tracheostomy and gastrostomy care
  • Paediatric Nurse qualification with current PIN number.
  • Ideally hold a qualification in training and mentoring.
  • You will ensure that the service meets and exceeds all relevant legislative/commissioning frameworks.
  • You will oversee assessments, management and delivery of training for carers who support children and young people receiving complex medical needs. This will include setting and maintaining standards of care; professional advice (where appropriate); customer liaison; training and supervision of support workers and team development.
  • Be responsible for training new staff in all relevant health needs for each child, supporting and supervising new staff from a clinical perspective to ensure they are competent and confident to support the children and young people independently.
  • Complete refresher updates and competencies for all staff as per Courtyard Care Policies.
  • Develop training resources and materials. Deliver training in mandatory areas such as medication, first aid and basic life support.
  • Your role will also involve: Clinical supervision; Responsibility for own ongoing professional development; Identifying and assessing care need requirements within the home and maintaining regular and appropriate contact with the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate levels of staffing are met; Ensuring that clinical interventions are met through effective planning and use of staff; Undertaking six Monthly review/update of health needs plan for child/young person; Ensuring that all intervention is within the relevant framework; Providing clinical communication between the service, commissioners, line managers attend children’s medical reviews and related meetings as identified by the Manager; Providing support and guidance to the staff team for all matters of a clinical nature; Developing and undertaking medication audits in services to ensure highest standards of practice; Maintaining effective Registration with NMC, working within guidelines; Leading by example through attention to professional conduct; Attending team meetings for clinical issues/matters; Contributing to clinical policy update and review; Offer advice to the team in clinical matters within the health support plan, direct team to universal services outside of the health support plan; Liaise with health professionals to provide clinical oversight from in service.
