Job Overview*

We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Ofsted-registered children's residential home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in children’s social care and demonstrate a passion for delivering outstanding, trauma‑informed care to children and young people with complex needs. This role requires robust leadership, sound knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and the ability to build a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for the young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted standards, legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised placement and care plans in collaboration with the child, local authority, families, and professionals.
  • Ensure the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of children is prioritised and promoted through structured routines, risk management, and care strategies.
  • Lead and supervise a team of residential staff, providing performance management, reflective supervision, and promoting continuous professional development.
  • Promote a culture of openness, safety, participation, and high aspiration for children, using therapeutic and relational approaches (e.g. PACE).
  • Oversee the home’s staffing rotas, training, incident reporting, and ensure robust safeguarding and whistleblowing processes are embedded.
  • Work in partnership with social workers, education providers, health professionals, and families to support positive outcomes for each child.
  • Maintain and monitor budgets effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care and homely environment.
  • Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home is always inspection‑ready and striving towards a rating of ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards it).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and relevant safeguarding frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and inspire a team working with children who may display challenging behaviour and have experienced trauma.
  • Strong communication, report‑writing, and multi‑agency partnership skills.
  • Proven experience in developing and reviewing individualised care and behaviour support plans.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes and life chances for children and young people in care.
