Refrigeration Engineer — Glasgow

£42,000 plus package

Questions and Answers

1. Is the salary flexible for the right engineer or are they all on the same rate? The rate is fixed; all engineers are paid the same. Senior engineers and Team Leaders are the only ones who earn more.
2. How many hours per week are you contracted for? 40 hrs a week, 08:30 - 17:00, 30 min unpaid lunch break. We require flexibility and overtime to this.
3. Do they pay travel time, is it door to door? Yes, Door to Door.
4. How often would you be on standby and what is the standby payment? Standby varies from region to region, anywhere from 1 in 5 to 1 in 15; payment is £175, running Monday to Sunday.
5. What are the overtime rates and is there much available? Overtime is X1.5 after 40 hrs; Sat X1.5; Sun & Bank Holidays X2. Bank holidays will get a day in lieu.
6. How many days annual leave? 25 days + Bank Holidays.
7. Is the van available for private use? Yes, just have to opt in and pay private mileage around 12p a mile depending on Gov rec.
8. How big of an area is covered? Depends on the region; try to do postcode oriented area keeping within 1.5 hrs of home. However business needs may require further travel time from time to time.
9. What are the main contracts they will work on? Mainly contract caterers, schools, hospitals, stadiums, FM companies, banks, hotels, MOD sites.
10. All Engineers will require? An enhanced DBS clearance.
