Overview

This is a great opportunity for nurses who would like to work within the maternity recovery and theatre setting at Queen Charlotte's Hospital. The role entails providing care to women and babies in the maternity recovery area following surgical procedures. The post holder will assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programs of care for individual women/birthing people. The role may include supporting theatre activity and the potential to develop a role within operating theatre as a theatre scrub practitioner. You will provide high standards of skilled care and support in both perioperative and post-operative areas of the maternity service.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare theatre equipment and instruments and maintain asepsis intraoperatively with compliance to WHO safety procedures.
  • Carry out post-operative care in the maternity recovery area and participate as a scrubbed or circulating member of the theatre team.
  • Assess care needs, and develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans for women/birthing people.
  • Collaborate with theatre, maternity and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a safe and effective service.
