Job description
Overview

We are seeking compassionate people with emotional intelligence and person-centred values for the interesting and rewarding role of Recovery Support Worker, supporting people with mental health and other needs in a high quality, new-build supported living service in Redditch. The service will provide person-centred, recovery-focussed support to promote independence, tenancy sustainment and positive risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Enable service users to progress in their personal recovery journey and attain goals relating to mental health and wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
  • Support individuals to move into their new homes and to become as independent as possible in managing their tenancies and all areas of daily living.
  • Provide psychological and practical support to help people grow in self-esteem and confidence; empower them to make informed choices, develop supportive relationships, make community connections and access meaningful activities.
  • Work closely and effectively with all members of the individual’s support network, including families, social workers, NHS professionals and voluntary agencies.
  • Build warm and trusting relationships with individuals based on respect and unconditional positive regard. Communicate effectively, liaise with external agencies and work in a reliable and accountable manner.
  • Carry out the role of Key Worker, contributing to needs/risk assessment and the development of person-centred support plans.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of mental health needs and the challenges experienced by people who may have experienced trauma and adverse life events; commit to equality and practice in an inclusive and non-judgmental manner.
  • Relevant paid or unpaid experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be offered. A relevant qualification (such as a Health & Social Care Diploma or degree in psychology) would also be desirable.
  • Work base is the supported living service located close to Redditch town centre, comprising 14 self-contained one-bed apartments with a communal lounge and on-site staff office.
  • Shift pattern requires work on a 7-day rota, including evenings and weekends, and bank holidays. Sleep-in duties may be required with a generous additional payment.
  • Part-time hours will be considered subject to a minimum of 15 hours per week.
