Salary & Benefits

Salary between £23,557 and £26,754 per annum (pro‑rated) depending on experience and qualifications, 27 days annual leave (pro‑rated) plus bank holidays, people’s pension, retail & leisure discounts, professional and personal development opportunities, and access to college courses.

Hours & Contract

20 hours per week – 52 weeks per year, Permanent – Part Time. UK‑based contract. Must have the Right to Work in the UK; sponsorship not offered.

About the Role

The Receptionist will be the first point of contact for visitors and staff within the Customer Contact & Admissions department, ensuring a professional, friendly and efficient front‑of‑house service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service – Deliver a warm welcome for visitors, staff and students in line with the College’s customer service standards.
  • Reception Management – Maintain a tidy, safe reception area; manage visitor bookings, ID cards, car parking requests and health & safety compliance.
  • Communication & Administration – Handle calls and emails promptly, update CRM records, process parking permits, manage lost property, and support post distribution and cashing up.
  • Event & Team Support – Assist with recruitment events (Open Days, Enrolment), prepare welcome packs, monitor stock levels, and provide administrative support to the Advice & Admissions team.
  • Compliance & Professional Standards – Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety and GDPR requirements; participate in training and development activities.
About You
  • Qualifications – GCSE English and Maths (A*‑C/9‑4) or equivalent.
  • Experience – Customer service experience, handling challenging situations, and using email and internet effectively.
  • Skills & Competencies – Friendly and welcoming approach, strong communication (face‑to‑face, phone, written), ability to prioritise in a busy environment, and accurate record keeping.
  • Professional Standards – Commitment to safeguarding, health & safety and college values; professional appearance and behaviour at all times.
  • Flexibility & Development – Willingness to update skills, work evenings/weekends, travel across campuses and adapt to changing business needs.
