Job summary

You will help clients transition from hospital to independent living, develop life skills, and work within a supportive multidisciplinary team. About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available to work within our growing, specialist mental health service in West Sussex.

Venture People are a specialist provider of support services. We offer bespoke packages of psychologically informed support, working with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis and additional complex needs. We are innovative; creating choice and promoting independence to ensure that we are effectively supporting and improving the person's health and wellbeing.

Job Opportunity

You will be working alongside a highly skilled team including a Psychologist and Behaviour Analyst. You will be able to muti‑task with a positive and supportive style to reflect the Venture People ethos of “therapeutic optimism” within the service. You will be skilled in rapport building and happy to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for Mental Health Support Workers who will make up a growing team within our specialist accommodation service in Worthing.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Working with diagnosed mental health clients supporting their transition from hospital settings to independent living.
  • Support in developing or re‑engaging with life skills to maximise independence
  • Flexible and adaptable to client and service needs
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • Previous experience in providing support to people with a mental health condition would be advantageous.
  • Able to work as part of a support team, ensuring the involvement of all stakeholders

Your role will be delivering quality support that enables people to achieve their outcomes by using and developing person‑centred support plans. You will be able to manage risks and vulnerabilities whilst promoting social inclusion and maximising the opportunities for the people you support.

Essential Skills
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience, ideally Mental Health / LD / Neurodiverse support.
  • Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes.
  • Experience of using therapeutic de‑escalation and / or crisis intervention techniques.
  • Able to respond to changes in an individual’s needs and meet deadlines.
  • To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support.
  • Computer literate, with confidence in using all Microsoft office programmes
Desired Skills

It would be desirable for you to have had experience supporting a person(s) with a mental health condition and within a community‑based service.
