What is the opportunity?

We are looking to recruit an Associate to join the RBC Brewin Dolphin Birmingham Charity Team. This well established and successful charity team manages significant investments for a wide range of Charity and Institutional clients throughout the West Midlands and surrounding areas. They are also part of the RBC Brewin Dolphin national charities team, one of the UK’s leading charity investment managers, working together with a common goal to service the needs of existing and prospective charity clients.

As an Associate, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance, working under the guidance of senior colleagues in the Charities team and wider business. You will act as a support to the Wealth Managers, drive digital adoption and actively develop knowledge of wealth management and the client advice processes within the Charities sector. In the long term, through sitting relevant qualifications and experience, you will have the option of progressing to a chartered wealth manager with the Charity Team.

What will you do?

  • Prove quality assistance and support under supervision of a senior wealth colleagues to meet clients’ requirements.
  • Collate and verify the accuracy of the information and work provided.
  • Support wealth colleagues with all aspects of client support and assist in preparation of reviews and client documentation.
  • Develop knowledge on breadth of investment, lending, cash and begin to build knowledge through exposure to client support.
  • Supports business development through correct application of client processes and procedures.
  • Aware of the local and national charity team business plans and develop understanding to supports the team in achieving overall objectives.
  • Grow your knowledge and understanding of the charity sector, different governance models, and develop of network of charity trustees and executives.
  • Complete all works according to procedure and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with One RBC partners and functional colleagues across platforms, and partner with other business units to ensure clients are receiving exceptional services.
  • Develop full understanding of existing and new digital capabilities, and support driving client adoption as part of the overall wealth management proposition.
  • Ensure Adherence to group values, policies, procedures, and working practices.
  • There will be limited client interaction in the role initially, but any client interaction should be maintained with RBC Wealth management code of conduct and professional standards.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Relevant prior experience in wealth management is required and you will have completed or be working towards an Industry recognised qualifications to CISI level 4 and a willingness to work towards CISI level 7 if not already achieved. Experience with charities is not essential.
  • Good time management skills, because this is a demanding role where you will often be managing many priorities and tasks.
  • Proactive, enjoy learning new things and seek out ways to expand your knowledge.
  • A desire to develop an understanding of the charity sector and the role of trustees and organisations in helping communities.
  • Good attention to detail, maintaining accuracy when completing written and numerical based tasks.
  • Clear and concise communication skills – with ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

Nice-to-have

  • Industry recognised qualifications to CISI level 7.
  • Previous charitable volunteering or trustee experience
