A leading multi-discipline contractor is seeking an Assistant Buyer in Acton for a 6-month contract. The role involves procuring for subcontractors and suppliers, supporting the Procurement Manager, and ensuring quality standards are met. Ideal candidates will have procurement experience within transportation and excellent negotiation skills. The position offers a rate of £250-£300 per day via umbrella.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in procurement or buying activities within transportation.
  • Ideally experience working in the rail industry, otherwise water, highways or utilities.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue subcontract tenders and paperwork.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get the best price, quality, and delivery times.
  • Process purchase requests from approved suppliers, ensuring they meet budget and quality standards.
  • Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors to meet service levels.
  • Support meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes and sharing follow-ups.
  • Produce simple reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using MS Office.
  • Handle incoming enquiries and correspondence.

Are you looking for an opportunity to be involved in a major infrastructure project?

Location: Acton. Duration: 6 months. Rate: £250-£300/day via umbrella.

Our client is a leading multi-discipline contractor with a large presence across the transportation sector. They are recruiting an Assistant Buyer to assist procurement activities on a major rail enhancement project in Acton.

As the Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager with procuring for subcontractors and suppliers, purchasing and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and issue subcontract tenders and paperwork
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get the best price, quality, and delivery times
  • Process purchase requests from approved suppliers, making sure they meet budget and quality standards
  • Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors to make sure service levels are met
