Job description

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, caring and highly motivated therapy radiographer to work as a Band 6 within the Pre-treatment team.

The role will include working in all key areas of the Pre-treatment services, which include Mould room, a Siemens Confidence CT scanner, Cannulation and Virtual simulation (Raystation) – much of which is radiographer led. The department has 4 Elekta Linear accelerators, 2 Radixact units, a Cyberknife, Superficial unit and an Elekta MR Linac. Digital patient pathways are managed using the Mosaiq Smart Clinic software throughout the department.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will have exemplary communication and patient care skills along with pre‑treatment technical skills and experience. In addition, this role requires someone who is flexible and keen to learn as the role includes developing our multimodality pathways for enhanced planning in a quality driven environment.

This role will give you the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of radiotherapy development in a forward‑thinking and technically advanced department for the benefit of your patients.

Responsibilities
  • The post‑holder will be responsible for carrying out radiotherapy processes as prescribed, carefully and accurately and assisting in the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a brachytherapy unit, a CT scanner, VS area or a treatment preparation area, and supervising the immediate radiographic team in the absence of a team leader.
  • The post‑holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with the Senior I radiographers.
