Job description
R&D Scientist (Analytical) - Biopharma - Contract (12 months) - South East, UK

Our client is a global leading biopharmaceutical organisation. At present they are seeking an R&D Scientist on a contract basis for 12 months.

The role requires theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques typically used in protein analysis and ability to perform a wide range of analytical methods based on HPLC (e.g size exclusion), electrophoresis (e.g CE SDS, icIEF). Experience with LC-MS/MS methods for Proteomics and/or Metabolomics or Lipidomics would be an advantage.

Candidates must have an outstanding attitude to learn and team collaboration skills are essential.

The position is laboratory-based and the candidate will be working in a matrix organisational structure supporting multiple projects.

Role responsibilities:
  • Performing experimental work independently, analysing data and reporting results to senior team member in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Plan and complete assigned tasks within the required timeframe.
  • Liaise with other scientists and project leads to close out technical review of assays.
  • Interpret data against specifications and identify trends within data.
  • Communicate progress and elevate challenges to Line Manager and/or Scientific or Project Lead as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Activities:
  • Planning experiments/work and writing electronic lab notebook (10%)
  • Analytical development or sample analysis (70%)
  • Lab Maintenance /Stock taking/ordering (15%)
