Quantity Surveyor - Milton Keynes - Up to £65K plus package

Our client is a well-established and highly reputable nationwide Main Contractor seeking a site-based Quantity Surveyor to work on a brand new multi-room scheme in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will need to lead and work within a newly formed commercial team to ensure the success of the project through to final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  2. Attending post-tender and pre-contract meetings.
  3. Reviewing contract documents to ensure the company's protection at all times.
  4. Issuing sub-contract tender packages and undertaking contractual evaluation of tenders.
  5. Managing our established list of supply chain sub-contractors.
  6. Assessing contract risk and working with the site team to develop and manage mitigation plans.
  7. Supporting procurement stages.
  8. Attending internal and external commercial review meetings.
  9. Submitting client valuations and managing the variation account.
  10. Managing the commercial aspects of the contract.
  11. Managing subcontract accounts from procurement to final account.
  12. Preparing and assisting with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.
  13. Managing commercial performance against business targets.
  14. Ensuring adherence to group commercial policies and legislation.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience managing your own project or multiple projects.
  • Experience working on Main Contracting schemes.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Excel.
  • Demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge, teamwork, discipline, and enthusiasm.
