Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in a UK consultancy or client-side role.
  • Ideally working towards MRICS with APC support available.
  • Proven experience within the retail and/or commercial sectors.

  • Prepare cost estimates, procurement strategies, and tender documents.
  • Manage valuations, variations, and final accounts.

A well-established, independent construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to their growing team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a business with a strong pipeline of retail and commercial work, as well as opportunities to branch into other sectors.

The Quantity Surveyor

Working across a mix of fast-paced retail frameworks and standalone commercial developments, the successful Quantity Surveyor will manage projects from feasibility through to final account. This Quantity Surveyor role offers real variety and the chance to work directly with clients, alongside a close-knit team that values collaboration and long-term development.

The consultancy offers a hybrid working arrangement and promotes a supportive, family-oriented environment. This would suit a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working on dynamic projects while benefiting from the security and culture of a smaller practice.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Delivering full pre‑ and post‑contract Quantity Surveying services
  • Preparing cost estimates, procurement strategies, tender documents and contract documentation
  • Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Leading client and contractor meetings
  • Supporting junior team members where appropriate
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction field
  • Ideally working towards MRICS, with structured APC support available
  • 3+ years' experience in a UK consultancy or client-side role
  • Proven experience within the retail and/or commercial sectors
  • Strong communication and client‑facing skills
