Overview

Quality Inspector - Glasgow (South Side)

Circa £20 per hour + Shift Allowance + Benefits

The Company

Our client is a forward-thinking manufacturer of precision components for the aerospace and defence sectors, delivering to exacting quality standards.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team in south Glasgow. You'll play a key role in ensuring all inspection activities, including CMM setup and operation, are performed efficiently, liaising with production teams on drawing interpretation and escalating defects promptly.

This is a full-time Monday-Friday day shift role (39 hrs/week), with occasional night shift (33% shift allowance).

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Goods In, First Off, In-Process, Pre/Post Sub con & Final Inspection
  • Maintain accurate inspection records
  • Identify and process non-conforming products efficiently
  • Support completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
  • Check and calibrate measuring equipment
  • Process customer returns and perform root cause analysis
  • Apply first principle inspection techniques
  • Work closely with other departments to resolve quality issues
  • Follow Health & Safety and Environmental policies
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience with CMM (setup, interpretation, reporting)
  • Proficient with manual measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Calibration experience
  • Manual handling skills including slings and lifting equipment
  • Familiarity with quality tools and root cause analysis
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of AS9100, HSE regulations, and quality standards
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and 6S practices
Desirable Experience
  • Internal or external auditing experience
  • Critical parts and aerospace inspection knowledge
  • Familiarity with PC-DMIS
  • Hands-on CMM operation experience
