About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join Raytheon UK who will report directly to the Quality Delivery Lead, for the Weapons & Sensors business area. Your key responsibilities for this role will involve delivering Quality Assurance in line with the Quality Management System and Quality Policy across the W&S business unit. You will also integrate and aligned to the respective program team(s). Working as part of the QA Team, you will conduct day to day activities whilst engaging with key stakeholders across the Integrated Project Team, (IPT).

Responsible for ensuring that Quality processes continue to develop and that best practices are implemented with emphasis on defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste. Providing support for continuous improvements that meet quality standards, minimising quality costs and maximising customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to. Supporting the IPT with driving business growth, efficiency, profitability and inter-company relationships.

Skills and Experience

  • Good level of customer knowledge (i.e. product & requirements)
  • Ability to review & interpret drawings
  • Conversant with requirements of ISO9001
  • Self-starter, Team Player, Good communicator - written, verbal and listening skills
  • Flexible and open to diverse opinions & ideas.
  • Some background in electronics manufacture would be an advantage
  • Internal Auditor or training to AS9100 and/or ISO/TS16949
  • Awareness of IPC soldering std.
  • HNC/HND; Eng discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Able to manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Proactive approaches to risk reduction, to prevent & resolve issues and remove nonvalue add processes.
  • Promote continuous Improvement, through best practice, problem solving & education.
  • Knowledge of CCA and mechanical assembly

Responsibilities/Main Duties

  • Primary authority on all quality related matters on assigned programme(s) / area of responsibility.
  • Interfacing and communicating with program and functional areas to support the goals of the business.
  • Conducting Quality Audits (product/product release/process)
  • Awareness and support during external accreditation audits & knowledge of regulatory requirements (AS9100 & ISO 9001)
  • Support to customer visits on site where necessary
  • Defect investigation to identify and addressing root cause.
  • Ensure effective & timely closure of Audit NC's/internal 8D's/customer complaints.
  • Provide Quality input to support bids to new business
  • Ensuring that customer contractual requirements and external regulations are fully understood and adhered to.
  • Performing First Article Reviews (FAR’s)
  • Participation in Gate Reviews.
  • Maintain quality records (QPulse)
  • Effective & timely monitoring and status reporting for assigned program(s) / area of responsibility.
