The role

As a Quality Control Inspector – Structural, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll support the Quality Manager to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement across the T31 project. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Conduct product verification audits and quality investigations on board ship
  • Carry out Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and components (where qualified)
  • Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with daily activities
  • Complete inspection reports in a timely manner
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality Control requirements for naval warship construction and acceptance
  • Ability to assess work carried out by production teams and subcontractors to assure quality and technical standards
  • In-depth understanding of Quality Control fundamentals
  • Broad knowledge of warship construction and design, with sound judgement to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of Measurement Management Systems and ISO10012
Qualifications
  • Qualified to a recognised trade standard (Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering) and relevant academic level (HNC/SVQ Level 3)
  • CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (AWS CWI/SCWI, CWB CWI Level 2/SCWI Level 3)
  • Minimum PCN Level 2 in either MT or PT (desirable)
  • Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
