A leading engineering services company in the Shrewsbury area is seeking a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead crane systems. Candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills and be safety-oriented. Location: Shrewsbury area
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (DOE)
Average earnings last year were £47,000-£55,000, with potential to earn more.
Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am - 2:00pm (flexibility required)
Overtime:
Weekend work as required
Saturday: Time and a half
Sunday: Double time
This is a permanent role with one of our clients.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to join our client's team. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead crane systems and other mechanical/electrical equipment. If you are hands‑on, safety‑conscious, and have strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, this role could be perfect for you.
Installation & Commissioning: Lead or assist with installation and commissioning of overhead crane systems at client sites. Ensure correct setup, alignment, and testing of components.
Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections to ensure reliable operation. Identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to service calls, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with clients to minimize downtime.
Upgrades & Modifications: Evaluate systems and recommend/implement upgrades or modifications to improve performance and safety.
Customer Support: Provide technical support and guidance on crane operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Build strong client relationships.
Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and upgrades. Prepare detailed reports.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all work follows health and safety regulations. Conduct safety assessments and provide guidance to clients.
Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Hands‑on experience with overhead crane systems (preferred).
Experience with drives/motors, gearboxes, and electrical/mechanical systems.
Excellent fault‑finding, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Willingness to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight or international work.
Flexibility to attend call‑outs as required.
Comfortable working at height, including scissor lifts up to 20m.
A proactive, safety‑focused mindset with strong customer service skills.
IPAF certification preferred.
LEEA certification is an advantage.
Company van provided, with daily pick‑up/drop‑off in Shrewsbury.
Pension scheme (after 3‑month probation).
