Roles & Responsibilities

The Class Teacher will hold primary responsibility for:

  • Inclusive Planning: Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that actively address the linguistic and learning needs of a diverse class cohort.
  • External Collaboration: Regularly liaising with external support agencies (e.g., social services, educational psychologists) to ensure holistic support for vulnerable pupils.
  • Assessment Integrity: Implementing fair and inclusive assessment methods, ensuring data accurately reflects the attainment and progress of EAL learners.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Actively promoting mutual respect and understanding across the classroom, integrating cultural diversity into the curriculum.
  • Mentoring: Providing clear direction and mentorship for the assigned Teaching Assistant, ensuring maximum deployment effectiveness.
  • Safeguarding: Holding unwavering commitment to the school's safeguarding protocols, acting promptly and professionally on all welfare concerns.
Requirements

The school expects applicants to meet the following high standards:

  • Certification: Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory for this role.
  • Experience: Proven success teaching within a diverse or urban primary school setting, ideally in Key Stage 2.
  • Specialism: Evidence of continuous professional development, particularly relating to EAL instruction or effective SEND strategies.
  • Classroom Management: Outstanding behaviour management skills and the ability to build immediate, positive rapport with pupils.
  • Compliance: Must possess a current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
