A leading manufacturer in public transport technology located in Lewes is seeking an experienced QHSE Manager to lead Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental systems. Candidates should have a degree in Engineering or a related field, along with at least 5 years of QHSE experience in electronics or mechanical sectors. Knowledge of ISO standards is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with audits, PPAP, APQP, and root cause analysis.

QHSE Manager

Location: Lewes, East Sussex
Reporting to: Operations Director
Start Date: September 2025

A global manufacturer within the public transport technology sector is seeking an experienced QHSE Manager to lead Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental systems at its UK headquarters.

This role is critical in a precision manufacturing environment producing electronic and mechanical assemblies, with responsibility for compliance, continuous improvement, and customer quality performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop QMS in line with ISO 9001 and support ISO 14001
  • Lead quality planning, audits, PPAP, and process validation (automotive customers)
  • Oversee QA/QC activities and manage customer and supplier quality issues
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including ESD, machine safety, and hazardous materials
  • Manage environmental compliance including RoHS and REACH
  • Drive continuous improvement using tools such as FMEA, SPC, 8D
  • Track and report QHSE KPIs
Candidate Profile
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' QHSE experience in electronics or mechanical manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive core tools
  • Experience with audits, PPAP, APQP, and root cause analysis
  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills
Desirable
  • IPC-A-610 / IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge
  • Second language (French, Spanish, or German)
