About this opportunity
These are full time posts, working across the Council, community and wider partners to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of our communities and address inequality. You will have the opportunity to shape, influence and lead key areas of work within the Council Plan and our Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
Although all public health consultants are generalists, you will lead on a specific portfolio of work which may change over time depending on priorities. Two posts are being appointed to, with portfolios covering health protection, substance misuse, input to the Cumberland Health Determinants Research Collaborative (HDRC), sexual health, public health training and workforce development, and input to tackling the wider determinants of health including poverty. One post may include 0.5 FTE providing leadership to the HDRC; this is fixed term until the end of December 2028. The second post is permanent and may include the lead role for health protection. Both posts are politically restricted.

About this opportunity
We are seeking to appoint two Consultants in Public Health / Consultants in Public Health Medicine to join our Public Health team. These are full time posts, working across the Council, community and wider partners to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of our communities and address inequality. You will shape and lead key areas of work within the Council Plan and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. You will deliver statutory duties, shape and commission strategic programmes, and work with local communities and partners to lead and enable change.
