Our client, a leading company in the rail sector, is seeking a Lead Engineer/CRE (Civils) for a long‑term contract based in the North West region. This role will involve working on a large rail infrastructure project and requires a strong background in civils, particularly lineside civils. The successful applicant will be working inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of civil engineering projects within the rail sector
• Be the design & construction interface
• Managing and overseeing the day‑to‑day activities of the project engineering team
• Ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations
• Acting as the Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) for civil works
• Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
• Providing technical guidance and ensuring quality control throughout project phases
• Preparing and reviewing project documentation and reports
• Maintaining effective communication with the client and project team
