About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Applied Clinical Psychologist to join our Stockton Community Team as part of the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP). The post is suited for an enthusiastic psychologist who values co‑creation, collaboration and being embedded within a multi‑disciplinary team. Significant opportunities exist for innovation, service development and improving access to effective mental‑health care for older people and families living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide governed therapies, formulations and specialist assessment to older adults and their families.
  • Deliver specialist assessment, formulation, governed psychological therapies and neuropsychological assessment.
  • Lead within a multidisciplinary team, improving cultures of care and supporting the development of personalised and purposeful care plans guided by need and best practice.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, training and consultation to trainee psychologists, MHWPs and assistant psychologists.
  • Support workforce development and contribute to research and service evaluations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: An applied clinical psychologist qualification with experience in governed therapies and neuropsychological assessment.
  • Desirable: Experience in working with a diverse, older population including those with dementia, frailty or functional mental‑health needs.
  • Experience with evidence‑based therapeutic approaches and CPD activity is required.
  • Capability to travel independently across the locality and access a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
  • Suitable level: Band 8a for experienced senior applied psychologists or Band 7 for newly qualified applied psychologists, with a pathway to re‑grading to 8a upon completion of agreed competencies.
Additional Information

Travel within the locality is required and suitable vehicle access is essential. The role is advertised for a fixed‑term contract, subject to permanent funding, with the successful applicant confirmed in a permanent post if funding is secured.
