Job summary

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)

We are looking for a PWP to join our low‑intensity team within Dorset Steps 2 Wellbeing Service, providing evidence‑based CBT‑based self‑management interventions to people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and support patients with common mental health problems in the self‑management of their recovery.
  • Conduct patient interviews and safety assessments.
  • Provide guided self‑help sessions via phone, online or face‑to‑face.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and signpost patients to services such as housing and employment.
  • Accept referrals through agreed protocols and record progress.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT with IAPT PWP status (or equivalent) or an MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical) qualification.
  • Experience in NHS Talking Therapies is desirable.

Additional Requirements:

  • Employment of an Enhanced DBS check (covering cost by the Trust).
  • Secondment only for current NHS staff – please obtain permission beforehand.
  • Candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible.
  • Applicants who are subscribers to the DBS update service may present a valid certificate.
