Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Gateshead Talking Therapies are an award-winning TalkingTherapies service and one of the highest performing services at both regionaland national level. There is recognitionthat staff can realise their potential through effective clinical andmanagement supervision, managerial support, and through access to internal andexternal training. Staff development and their wellbeing are accepted as avital priority, and we have a long-established Wellbeing Strategy Group whichdevelops wellbeing initiatives for the service. You will deliver interventions aspart of Talking Therapies and will have experience of providing psychologicaltherapies in primary care. You will be expected to use traditional andinnovative treatment methods using NICE Low Intensity Treatment interventionssuch as Low Intensity CBT.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver interventions in a developing primary care setting and play a full part in the effective development and operation of the whole of the service. Regular supervision is an important aspect of the work of the service. You must have:

  • A post graduate certificate in low intensity therapy or evidence of passing the post graduate low intensity training.
  • Beregistered with the BABCP.
  • Experience of working to support the mental health needs of adults in primary care.
  • Comprehensive mental health assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to offer advice to a broad range of professionals and work co-operatively to deliver joint interventions with a range of providers.

Job responsibilities

The post holder(s) will be part of Gateshead Talking Therapies. They will workwith adults who have a range of common mental health problems in primarycare providing high volume low intensity interventions. They will use traditionaland innovative treatment methods.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds andages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equalopportunities.

Person Specification
Physical skills
  • Car driver and/or ability and willingness to travel to locations

Qualifications
  • Qualification from PWP Training Course (Post graduate diploma in low intensity therapy) / Evidence of passing course.
  • Must be Registered with the BABCP.
  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.
  • Psychology or other health related postgraduate degree.
