Overview
Our client seeks an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Putney and Roehampton CMHT, serving individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions. You\'ll work alongside a specialist medical colleague in a well-established, multidisciplinary team delivering recovery-focused care to an ethnically and socially diverse population.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership to a 20.6 WTE multidisciplinary team
- Manage shared clinical caseload of 345 patients (132 CPA, 213 non-CPA)
- Conduct 2-3 new patient assessments weekly for Wandsworth Single Point of Access
- Deliver outpatient clinics, home visits, and crisis interventions
- Oversee risk assessment, medication management, and recovery-focused care planning
Professional Duties
- Participate in Mental Health Act assessments with Section 12(2) approval
- Supervise junior medical staff, including Core and Higher Specialty Trainees
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in teaching medical students from St George\'s University of London
Service Development
- Participate in service planning and business development activities
- Contribute to Trust-wide quality improvement and innovation programs
- Support implementation of new clinical pathways and evidence-based practices
- Engage with third sector partners and community organizations
- 1.0 WTE Specialty Doctor and 1.0 WTE ST4-6 trainee
- Comprehensive MDT including CPNs, OT, Psychology, Employment Specialists

Qualifications & Experience
- Primary medical degree with full GMC registration
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- GMC Specialist Register inclusion for General Adult Psychiatry (or eligible within 3 months)
- Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status
- Experience: Minimum 3 years full-time approved higher psychiatric training
- Comprehensive knowledge of severe mental illness treatment approaches
- Expertise in psychopharmacological interventions and clinical management
- Experience with CPA processes, risk assessment, and management
- Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments
